Sam , 6 Apr am. I'm getting the same problem with mine. Of the 15 games I have only 3 load. I'm ready to send it back to sony is I have only had it for less than 2 months.
I had overheard it may have somehthing to do witht the older games and that the newer ps2 cant read them thus the "data read error" i get makes sense. I'm at my wits end about this and pretty pissed off. Is your ps2 now working? Liam , 17 May am. Mostly, it's games with heavy cut scenes or dvd video content. Like the recently released "Enter the Matrix" for example. I managed to load the game after about twenty successive failures, then it cut out about halfway through because the video footage got too heavy.
Can't load it again now They're not the perfect conglomerate everyone makes them out to be. Every mini disc or dvd player I've ever had from sony has broken well within a year and now this?!
Kevin , 6 Jul pm. Yeah I just enter the matrix and mine keeps freezing up. Imagine 10 long rectangular pictures on the same screen moving up and down the entire time. It makes me feel. Ps1 games works well in ps2 normally. I think probably is hdmi conversor. Messed around with video settings and nothing seems to work. I've looked around for answers but I have yet to see any concrete solution. I'm also using component cables. Also, this probably doesn't matter, but I've got it plugged into a really ancient RadioShack 4-in-1 component cable switch box and from there into the TV. And the only thing I ever play on it anymore is the King's Field games, probably once a year or so.
Are you able to try it on a different TV, just to see if it's that specific TV that's the problem? Also, out of curiosity, what model of PS2 are you using? It should be "SCPH-" followed by numbers. Mine is a SCPH, one of the last major design revisions before the slim model. Active 8 years, 6 months ago. Viewed 3k times. Improve this question. Do you have an original or slim PS2? Also, where did you buy the PS2 and where did you buy the games? Aren't both able to play PS1 games? What's the condition of your games? Gmoneyrocks I believe so, but it's a persistent rumour that they don't, so someone was going to ask. I'm really just fishing for more info, because as is, the question doesn't give us enough to do more than guess wildly why it's not working. Yeah, game condition is a good question!
