Because of the San Juan Unified School District s current refusal to allow for a physical education exemption policy, as allowed by the California Education Code, many band students will have to take PE during the summer.
This is because some band practices and PE overlap in the students packed schedules. Athlete students who are in band cannot get PE credit for after school sports. Strangely, another SJUSD high school, Mira Loma, allows an exemption process for International Baccalaureate students participating in school-sponsored interscholastic athletic programs due to their curriculum demands.

I attended two events in Fall in the evening when there was no toilet paper in any of the bathroom stalls. One of the students said, "They are often out of toilet paper. After a year in this school, we can't afford for our children's education to suffer any more than it already has.
The solutions that the district is proposing to solve the money crisis do not address the cause of the issue. The state of Arizona needs to wake up and support education. The school district has less money because of a drop in enrollment.
